How to have a good day – 5 morning habits

How to have a good day – 5 morning habits

Sharing is caring!

We all want to have a good day!

From the moment we open our eyes, we’re not thinking “I want to have a bad day.

But those first few moments when we wake are crutial to setting the tone for our day ahead.

So, how to have a good day you ask?

By practicing the following 5 habits daily, you can go from what would be a mediocre or “bad” day, to having a rich, full and wonderful day.

I get it, its not always easy to wake up and feel happy and want to spring out of bed.

We have work commitments, stress, busy schedules etc etc.

But, when it comes down to it, you have complete control over how you manage all of these daily tasks and emotions.

You might not have control over everything that happens, no one does, but you can control how you manage and deal with it.

And, the tone of your day is set from the moment you wake up.

The powder of the mind is mind blowing!

Little bit of inspo…

Mornings are personally my absolutely favorite part of the day.

I can appreciate that each person has a different morning schedule and many have a lot more time to themselves than others.

But, even if you devote just 10 minutes to yourself and can block out the rest of the world, you will be surprised how your mindset can change for the better.

Its up to you to set the tone for a really positive day.

How to have a good day – 5 morning habits

1. Start with gratitude

Starting with gratitude is undeniably the best advice I can give someone wanting to set a positive tone for the day.

Taking a moment each morning to block out all other thoughts and focus solely on the things you are grateful for will without doubt be a positive experience.

By taking time to be grateful for all of the positive things in your life is the best thing you can ever do for your own personal well being.

There is always reason to show gratitude.

Whether it is because you opened your eyes to another new day, the person who smiled at you yesterday, the clean water you drink, the bed you slept in, the warm shower you have each day, family and friends who love you.

Take the time to show gratitude for whatever it is you are grateful for and you will be reminded that you’re luckier than you think you are.

2. Don’t reach for your phone

Be honest with yourself here. The first thing you do is reach for your phone.

But the sad thing is, most of the time we’re not even looking for anything of advantage to us or that will make our day any better.

Its just become such habit to pick up our phones before anything else.

The first things you see and think about in the mornings really can set the tone for your day.

Instead of scrolling Instagram, Facebook, stalking ex’s or filling your mind with what’s going on in other peoples lives, take some time for yourself.

Set intentions for the day.

Lie there for a few minutes and think about what you want to achieve today.

I am trying to make a conscious effort not to reach for my phone when I open my eyes in the morning.

Instead I take 5 minutes to think about my day ahead and what I want to achieve.

You could even just spend this time letting your mind wake up properly.

Practicing this will really make a difference.

3. Get up with the birds

This is my favorite of all my morning routines.

I realize that waking up early its not for everyone though.

Personally, I love to wake early, and I always have right from a child.

There is something invigorating about waking before sunrise when everything else is quiet and enjoying my surroundings.

I make a coffee and sit out on the deck as the sun is rising and I just reflect on things and set goals for my day ahead.

Listening to the nature and focusing on every little sound is so peaceful.

Even if I am not outside, I will take some time to myself and begin some work or do something that makes me feel accomplished.

We spend so much time sleeping, why waste more of our day by waking up later than necessary?

Life is short enough as it is.

4. 10 minute morning yoga

Morning yoga is something that is definitely underrated!

It is a great habit to get into if you want to have a good day ahead.

I began doing this years ago to reduce back pain, increase flexibility and wake up my mind and body.

Try to do this as many mornings as you can because it really helps to reduce any tension you may be holding, loosens up your body and helps free your mind.

I began doing this from following various different YouTube videos and then eventually had enough knowledge to make up my own routines.

I definitely recommend giving this a go as many mornings as possible.

Here are two easy to follow 10 minute morning yoga routines that are really great for waking your body up and stretching out your muscles.

5. Meditation

To be completely honest, meditation is something I would never have considered some time ago.

I had no reason thinking this way other than to say I never gave it enough thought it wouldn’t have any benefits.

Boy was I so wrong!

While going through a very difficult time in my life, some close friends recommended meditation as a way to deal with stress.

I gave it a go for a few weeks and couldn’t believe how much I was able to change my mindset with some basic meditation practice.

Meditation is definitely something that will best be achieved with complete focus, a will to do it and consistency.

I highly recommend trying this no matter what your life situation is at the time.

It creates space for you to just be with your own thoughts.

It is so easy to get caught up in what is going on a round us and other peoples lives.

We forget to focus on our own well being and living our best life.

I prefer to do this in the mornings and usually only take 10-15 minutes to do this.

Meditation can be done at any time of the day that works for you, as long as you can get some time where you wont be disturbed and in a comfortable place where you can completely relax.

Knowing how to have a good day is really in our hands.

We can’t completely control what lies ahead for us each day, but don’t go worrying about that.

Why worry about what you can’t control? Yes, I know its easier said than done.

But to truly live your best life, you need to try not to worry about the things you cannot control, and instead focus on the things you can control.

By focusing on the things you can control from the moment you wake up, will help you live each day to the fullest.

When I say control, I don’t mean becoming a control freak.

I mean don’t give yourself any unnecessary stresses. Focus on the good and the positive.

Focus you energy into those things and you will soon figure out how to have a good day.

These are 5 of my favorite morning habits.

Do you have any different ones that work for you?
