Sharing is caring!

Like every one else, you’re after the best web hosting services for your blog or website, and you want good bang for your buck, right?

12 months ago I had no idea where to even begin when it come to finding the right web host provider.

Everything I read was like reading a complete foreign language.

I ended up finding a blogger than I trusted and read his web host recommendations and finally settled with Hostgator, who are one of the hosting services I highly recommend for a beginner blog.

HostGator Web Hosting

Over the past 12 months I have heard and seen a lot of web host companies frequently talked about.

By no means do I consider myself a tech professional of any sorts today, quite the opposite actually.

But I love doing research and I love to compare the different products and services available.

Everyone wants a good deal, but even more so everyone wants an honest opinion from other people who have experience and knowledge so you can choose the best possible option to suit you.

Different types of web hosting

You have many options to choose from here!

Shared hosting, VPS, managed hosting, dedicated hosting,  different RAM, CDNs, server cores, SSL certificates… the list goes on…and on…and on…

Instead of giving you a dozen different web hosting services, I have narrowed it down to 4 of the absolute best web hosting services I have found and tell you why they are so popular and what they offer.

These hosting options are competitively priced and all have their own unique features.

Hopefully this can help you pick the right web hosting provider to suit your needs and budget. (They are in no particular order).

Bluehost was founded in 2003 and has proven to be one of the best and most reliable web host providers around.

They offer great hosting at a great price, and have a brilliant reputation for customer support.

If you have any issues or need any questions answered, they have 24/7 support by phone or live chat.

Bluehost customer support are fast and easy to deal with giving you a great experience.

There live chat option and customer support contact details are listed directly on their site so its easy to get in touch at any time.

Bluehost offers hosting that supports various types of businesses at all different levels.

Starting with beginner shared hosting plans where you want to install WordPress.

They have an easy 1-click install to make this happen fast.

Then as your site grows and you want to upgrade to managed WordPress hosting to speed up your site and get better security, they can help with this also.

Then you can get really advanced and upgrade to VPS or dedicated hosting if your site reaches such a point where you feel this type of upgrade necessary.

Whatever you need, Bluehost is guaranteed to cover it. They aren’t one of the referred to as one of the best web hosting services for no reason.

If you start with them, you’ll find you will likely be with them forever!

Bluehost

Dreamhost is one of the three shared recommended web hosting services by wordpress.

They have a completely customized control panel that you’ll use to manage your website.

This can be a great option, but bare in mind it could cause some headaches if you choose to switch to a different web host provider.

Dreamhost is another great option if you’re have a brand new website or blog.

In addition to shared hosting and managed WordPress hosting, DreamHost also has reasonably priced options to upgrade to VPS hosting, cloud hosting and dedicated servers.

In addition to shared hosting plans, it also offers a managed plan with more features, called DreamPress.

Customer service ptions are email support 24/7. They also have a live chat option, but unfortuntely this is only available during business hours and you also have to pay $9.95 if you wish to speak to technical support over the phone.

This is a little bit more “old fashioned” than many web hosting service customer support options.

If you’re someone like me, you’ll require a lot of support when setting up your site with hosting, so Dreamhost might not be the best option for you.

On the other hand, if you’re tech savvy and quite capable of doing it yourself with minimal support required, they could they way to go.

Hostgator is another very popular web hosting service among new site owners.

One of the things I love about Hostgator is its exceptional customer support.

They don’t provide an email option, but who wants email when you can phone or use live chat and have your issues fixed or questions answered much faster?

I have found their customer support team very quick and professional each time I have had to use them.

One of the features that makes Hostgator stand out from other web hosting services is the fact that it includes support in all its plans.

Their hosting plans start at $2.75/month for the Hatchling plan, $3.95/month Baby plan and $5.95/month Business plan.

So if you’re just starting out blogging or building a website and want a hosting plan that’s cheap and includes support, Hostgator is a highly recommended web host provider.

HostGator does offer Windows hosting in addition to Linux, and also offers a variety of options to upgrade to hosting such as managed WordPress, cloud hosting, VPS hosting and a dedicated server.

Hostgator does come with a full 45 day money back guarantee.

So if you try it out and find its not the web host for you, they offer your money back within 45 days of purchase.

Siteground has proved very popular among website owners and have people talking about it everywhere. But why? lets discuss it in more detail.

Along with Bluehost and Dreamhost, SiteGround is one of WordPress’s three recommended web hosts.

WordPress hosting is built into all of the shared hosting plans. You will receive automatic updates, security, and exceptional expert tech support.

Siteground is considered one of the leaders in shared web hosting services.

It has rapid-fast servers and frequently updated to ensure they are continuously providing customers the best possible service.

In addition to the standard shared plans, Siteground also offers higher-tiered shared plans such as GoGeek, for a slightly more advanced hosting option.

If you are a smaller blog, business or website, you will probably find that a higher-tiered shared plan isn’t necessary, but its great to have that option, especially as your site grows over time.

One of the slightly more negative aspects of Siteground is that once you go beyond their introductory pricing, the plan pricing will increase significantly.

Other than this, there really doesn’t seem to be a lot of negative feedback regarding the overall hosting experience Siteground provides.

So if you are prepared for the pricing increase once you go beyond the introductory price plan, this could be a great option as a shared hosting provider for your website.

WP engine is the queen of managed WordPress hosting and it deserves this title in every way!

WP is an exceptionally professional web hosting provider, and of course, with higher quality comes a higher price.

Opposed to shared hosting plans which can be really cheap, a fully managed WordPress host is significantly more expensive.

If you’re a beginner and starting out with a lower budget, WP-engine might not be the best choice for a first time web hosting service.

WP Engine’s lowest-priced plan is $25/month, an obvious hike in price compared to the shared plans, and this is only for 10GB per month and up to 25,000 site visitors per month.

Don’t let this put you off though. WP-Engine provides top-notch professional web hosting and is extremely popular among website owners.

If your at a more advanced level with your WordPress site and can warrant paying for this type of hosting service, WP-engine will not fail you.

Remember that they only provide hosting to a WordPress site, nothing else. Sp make sure you’re with wordpress or planning to install wordpress before wasting time digging deep into WP-engine.

One thing you will never have to worry about is site speed. Your website will be insanely fast and basically zero downtime.

They offer impeccable customer service so you don’t need to worry about maintenance issues either.

Customer support is also big focus for WordPress, and their staff are total tech professionals.

Live chat is available 24/7.

For a full managed, highly functional, extremely fast website, WP-Engine has you covered.

Conclusion

When picking a web hosting provider, you really don’t want to be changing to a new one unless it is really necessary.

So make sure you read and understand everything you’re getting before making a commitment.

These 5 best web hosting services all have their own unique features.

Bluehost, Dreamhost, Hostgator and Siteground are all great web hosting services to start with if you are a new blogger and just starting your website.

In saying that they all are perfectly fine for a well established site that gets tonnes of traffic each month.

WP-Engine comes at a much higher price but is well worth every extra cent you are paying.

My advice is to do your research on each one, figure out what it is that you need, read some customer reviews and make a decision based on you’re findings on all of the above.
